Loughrigg & Badger Bar
Distance 8.4km
Ascent 420m
This
is a great little circular route with a moderate bit of ascent but
generally pretty easy. It also takes in the Badger Bar in Rydal if you
fancy a good pint on the way back. Up on Loughrigg fell there is a maze
of paths so the route can be varied, but this is my favourite.
We
started from the road behind Rothay Park in Ambleside where parking is
available and headed up the steep road adjacent to the river foot bridge
and cattle grid. This route leads up to a cross roads of paths where
turning right led directly to the summit. From there you can descend down to Loughrigg Terrace and via the Badger Bar as per the map, or head in any number of other directions to return to the start.
